AMBASSADOR WAYNE AND CARL MEACHAM MEET ARGENTINE GOVERNORS AND LEGISLATORS

Top US Senate foreign affairs advisor Carl Meacham and Ambassador Wayne had lunch Wednesday, August 6, with the governors of Chubut, Mario Das Neves; and Santiago del Estero, Gerardo Zamora, at the Ambassador’s residence in Palermo. Mr. Meacham is the top advisor on Latin American affairs for Senator Richard Lugar (Indiana), the ranking Republican member of the US Senate’s Foreign Affairs Committee. He is visiting Buenos Aires to get a first hand view of Argentine politics and the economy and know some of its leaders. Mr. Meacham and the Ambassador also met at the Embassy with four members of the Lower House Argentine-US Friendship Committee: Deputies Silvia Lemos (UCR-Mendoza), Luis Galvalisi (PRO-Bs. As.) Manuel Justo Baladrón (FPV/PJ-La Pampa) and Julian Martin Obiglio (PRO-Bs.As.) Mr. Meacham also met with Senator Miguel Angel Pichetto (FPV/PJ) in the morning and with B.A. City Mayor Mauricio Macri in the afternoon.
